Teaching Among Tornadoes, Trick #1, Watercolors

11 July2Last week I wrote about the advice I’ve gleaned about homeschooling with preschoolers underfoot.  One of the tips was to plan activities for the preschoolers during school time and have toys and other materials reserved for school time only.  So I thought I might take Tuesdays and show you some activities or toys that we tried.  So here it is-

Tornado Tuesday!

TaT Watercolor

Watercolors-  This was the very first activity I planned for Z-urchin.  He had found the Thomas watercolor book a few days before school started and was really interested in painting Thomas.  So I told him he had to wait for school and so that was the first thing he wanted to do.  It held his interest for about 10 minutes maybe.  Long enough to get started with math.  (Nothing holds a Tornado’s focus for long!)   I like that the brush and the paint attach to the book in a little plastic case.  The fact that it is all together makes it a quick and easy thing to prep at the beginning of the week and get set up during school time.

Conclusion: We like it!  This is a good activity to repeat.
